Happy 70th Evert Jan Baerends!
All the best for your 70th birthday Evert Jan Baerends! Already during my undergraduate studies I was impressed by your outstanding contributions related to DFT and still today I end up with your publications whenever I want to understand a problem in depth. It was a pleasure to join your group in Amsterdam for my PhD studies. Thank you very much for the pleasant scientific environment with many inspiring discussions.

PostDoc in Donostia - San Sebastián
I’m happy to join the Nano-bio Spectroscopy Group lead by Angel Rubio at the University of the Basque Country. My research will be concerned with the application of the SCE functional in the TD-DFT framework.

PRL editor's suggestion
Our recent publication in Physical Review Letters is now highlighted as editor’s suggestion. In this paper we demonstrate the genuine universality of the strictly correlated particles (SCP) formalism by applying the SCP functional to fermionic and bosonic systems with dipolar interaction.

Happy 65th Andreas Savin!
Congratulations Andreas Savin and joyful retirement! Hopefully you will be around in our community for many more years to share with us your original view on DFT. I learned a lot from you already. Here some impressions from the workshop on “Advances in electronic structure theory” that was organized in honor of Andreas Savin.

Mini-symposium
I’m glad to announce a mini-symposium at the day of my PhD defense. The members of my thesis reading committee will present some of their recent advances in DFT.

Poster: SCE charge transfer excitations
Find here a poster where the SCE functional correctly captures the electron hopping excitation in a model Hydrogen molecule. In a fractional particle number perspective this can be attributed to the smooth SCE derivative discontinuity - see here for more or download the article.
